Vercept's Rules of the Road

Effective September 19, 2025

Welcome to Vercept!

We build AI coworkers that help you, not haunt you. To keep everyone safe, happy, and legally covered, here's how things work around here. This is a plain-English summary, with a sprinkle of humor. If anything here disagrees with the "official" legal docs, the official docs win.

1. Terms of Service (how the playground works)

Who can use Vercept

  • You must be 18+ (or older if your country requires).
  • If you sign up with your work email, your company might link your account to theirs and see activity.

Accounts

  • Keep info accurate.
  • Don't share logins, API keys, or accounts.
  • You're responsible for everything that happens in your account.
  • Suspicious activity? Email support@vercept.com.

What you can (and can't) do

  • You get a revocable license to use our Services, even to build products for your users.
  • You cannot: reverse engineer, clone, build a competitor, or rip off our look/feel.
  • Vercept and its partners own all the IP.

Inputs & Outputs

  • Inputs = what you give us. Outputs = what we generate. Together = Customer Content.
  • Outputs can be wrong, outdated, or misleading. Verify before using. Tell your users too.
  • You keep rights to your Inputs. We give you our rights (if any) in your Outputs.
  • We don't train our models on your inputs.

Fees & payments

  • Some features cost money.
  • Payments are non-refundable (unless required by law).
  • Missed payments can mean suspension.
  • Fees may change; you'll get a chance to accept before being charged more.

Suspension & changes

  • We can suspend or change Services (especially for abuse, legal, or security reasons).
  • Features may come and go.

Ending the relationship

  • Either side can terminate for a big breach (30-day cure window) or insolvency.
  • You can close your account anytime after paying what you owe (if any).
  • Some sections (confidentiality, IP, liability, disputes) survive termination.

Confidentiality

  • If we share confidential info with you, you must protect it (and vice versa).
  • Exceptions: public info, independently developed, obtained lawfully elsewhere, or required by law.

Legal boilerplate (quick hits)

  • Services are "as is." No guarantees of accuracy or uptime.
  • Liability cap = what you paid us in the last 6 months.
  • Notices go to notices@vercept.com (to us) or your provided address (to you).
  • We can update Terms (effective after 30 days unless law requires faster). Keep using = you accept.
  • Washington State law applies. Venue = Seattle courts. Arbitration first, if we can't resolve things.
  • No jury trials or class actions.

2. Privacy Policy (what we do with your data)

What counts as personal data

Anything that identifies you: name, email, phone, billing info, IP, device/browser data, payment details, messages you send us, etc.

What we collect & why

  • Profile/contact data (name, email) → to run accounts, communicate with you.
  • Payment data (billing info, card type/last 4) → to process payments (if needed).
  • Device/IP data → for security, analytics, debugging.
  • Web analytics → to understand usage, improve services.
  • Other info you provide (emails, texts, surveys) → to support & improve services.

How we use it

  • Provide, customize, improve Services.
  • Process orders & billing.
  • Respond to support requests.
  • Prevent fraud and abuse.
  • Personalize your experience.
  • Contact you about Vercept.

Who we share with

  • Our team & contractors who need to know.
  • Service providers (cloud hosting, analytics, payments [Stripe], security, support).
  • Parties you authorize (social logins, integrations).
  • Legal reasons (law enforcement, compliance, disputes).
  • Business transfers (if we're acquired, merged, etc.).
  • Aggregated/anonymized data may be used for analytics, but not in a way that identifies you.

Tracking tools

We use cookies, pixels, tags, and similar tech. Types include:

  • Essential (keep you logged in, secure).
  • Functional (remember settings, preferences).
  • Analytical (see usage patterns, improve site).

Session replay

We may record sessions to debug, monitor, and improve. That means clicks/scrolls may be logged.

Security & retention

  • We protect your data with technical and organizational safeguards.
  • No system is 100% secure.
  • Retention = as long as needed to provide Services, comply with laws, or resolve disputes.

Children's data

  • We don't knowingly collect from anyone under 18.
  • If we learn we did, we'll delete it.

3. Cookie Policy (the crumbs)

  • We use cookies to keep you logged in, secure, analyze usage, and market smarter.
  • Categories: Necessary, Analytics, Internal Marketing.
  • You can manage cookies in your browser. Blocking all might break stuff.
  • Changes: we may update this policy; effective date will update.

4. Acceptable Use Policy (don't be evil)

Big NOs

You cannot use Vercept to:

  • Harm children (ever).
  • Attack infrastructure, hack, or spread malware.
  • Promote terrorism, extremism, hate, or discrimination.
  • Doxx, spy, or impersonate humans.
  • Build weapons or do illegal trafficking.
  • Promote self-harm, harassment, sexual violence, animal cruelty, or gore.
  • Spread misinformation, fake personas, or impersonations.
  • Run political campaigns, lobby, or interfere in elections.
  • Do law enforcement, surveillance, predictive policing, biometric categorization, or emotion recognition.
  • Commit fraud, scams, spam, MLMs, predatory lending, abusive debt collection.
  • Abuse the platform (ban evasion, multiple accounts, scraping our models, prompt-injection hacks).
  • Generate sexually explicit content.

High-risk areas (extra rules apply)

If you're in healthcare, finance, law, insurance, employment, housing, academic testing, or journalism, you must:

  • Keep a qualified human in the loop for decisions/advice.
  • Disclose to users that AI was used.

Always disclose

  • Any chatbot that's user-facing.
  • Any product aimed at minors.
  • If you find bias, harm, or other bad outputs → email safety@vercept.com.

TL;DR (super short)

Use Vercept responsibly. Don't break the law (or our rules). Pay if it's a paid feature. Don't assume the AI is always right. We protect your data but use cookies and analytics. If things go wrong, disputes get handled under Washington State law, usually in Seattle, and arbitration comes first.
